HVAC Technician

HVAC TechnicianRQ is seeking an experienced HVAC Start-Up Technician to support large commercial and mechanical construction projects in Jacksonville, North Carolina. This role is ideal for a highly skilled commercial HVAC technician with strong troubleshooting experience working on large tonnage equipment, chillers, boilers, hydronic systems, and mechanical start-up operations.The ideal candidate has hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, starting up, and commissioning commercial HVAC systems in construction, industrial, government, healthcare, or mission critical environments.ResponsibilitiesPerform start-up, testing, troubleshooting, and operational verification of commercial HVAC systemsService and troubleshoot large commercial equipment including:50+ ton RTUsAir-cooled and water-cooled chillersBoilersPumps and hydronic systemsHot water systemsCooling towersPerform compressor replacements, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and electrical troubleshootingSupport commissioning and functional performance testing activitiesWork directly with project teams, subcontractors, and equipment manufacturers to resolve system issuesRead and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control sequencesDocument testing activities, deficiencies, and corrective actionsQualificationsMinimum 5 years of commercial HVAC service/start-up experienceStrong troubleshooting experience with large commercial HVAC systemsExperience working on chillers, boilers, large RTUs, and hydronic systems requiredExperience replacing compressors and diagnosing refrigeration/electrical issues requiredEPA 608 Certification requiredOSHA 10 Certification required (or ability to obtain)Factory certifications preferredMilitary, industrial, healthcare, or large commercial project experience preferredWhat We OfferFull-time opportunity with consistent project pipelineOpportunity to work on complex commercial and government projectsCareer growth within a growing mechanical divisionSafety-focused team environmentCompetitive compensation and benefits packageRQ Construction is a full-service Design-Build company, headquartered in Carlsbad, CA, with support operations located in Jacksonville, NC.
