Registered Nurse - PICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized critical care nursing to pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert clinical skills and compassionate care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor critically ill pediatric patients, including those requiring ventilator support, vasoactive drugs, and titrated drips.
• Administer medications, including sedation and vasoactive agents, following protocols and physician orders.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams such as pediatricians, RTs, and support staff to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Document patient status, interventions, and responses accurately in the electronic medical record system.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly, providing life-saving interventions as needed.
• Assist with unit flows, including admissions, discharges, and equipment setup, ensuring smooth operations.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license in the state of practice.
• A minimum of 2 years of PICU experience, with pediatric critical care expertise.
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required.
• Ability to titrate drips such as sedation, fentanyl, Versed, or Precedex, with physician oversight.
• Comfortable managing ventilators, Cpap, BiPAP, and Tracheostomy patients.
• Willingness to float across pediatric units including L&D, NICU, and Acute Peds as needed.
