Patient Service Representative I

The Patient Service Representative I provides friendly, rapid, and accurate patient support, including completion of patient registration documentation, appointment scheduling and assistance with a variety of departmental projects and clerical duties.

Primary responsibilities include:

1. Responding to customer needs in a timely and professional manner.
2. Answering telephones properly, courteously, and tactfully; directing calls and returning messages to the appropriate party; taking complete and accurate messages.
3. Facilitating patient appointments and referrals in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
4. Obtaining demographic and insurance information from patient and inputting data accurately into the patient management system.
5. Obtaining required signatures on consents and distributing patient information and compliance literature.
6. Verifying patients insurance eligibility utilizing assigned tools, updating information in patients account as needed.
7. Preparing financial estimate of anticipated prices for the services to be rendered prior to the performance of services and communicating the information to the patient.
8. Collecting all current and past-due patient responsibility balances prior to services being rendered.
9. Performing daily reconciliation, balancing, and cash out procedures and entering payment into practice management system.
10. Preparing the next days work for all scheduled patients.

Minimum qualifications include:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience: 1 year of customer service.
• Licensure: None.
• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft Officer applications Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.

1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Ability to relate well to all customers.
3. Knowledge of Healthcare terminology.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Education: Associates degree in relevant field.
• Work Experience: Five (5) years of Healthcare office experience.
• Certification: American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED course.

Physical requirements are sedentary, involving majority of time sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping. Long periods of computer time or at workstation. Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance. May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise. Communicating with others to exchange information. Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
