Department: Communication Disorders Salary: Commensurate with experience The Interpreting and Translation (INTN) Program at theUniversity of Houston is hiring part-time non-tenure trackLecturers for classroom instruction (day or evening) on an asneeded basis. This program (formerly named the ASLI program) trainsstudents to be conversationally fluent in American Sign Languageand focuses on preparing interpreters for real-worldinteractions. Content areas of particular need are American Sign Language levels1-4 and interpreting/translation pedagogy. Students enrolled in ourcourses benefit from our on-campus language lab, a part-timelanguage coach, community events sponsored by the ASL Societystudent organization and a separate lab for student research. Applicants should provide a letter of interest, a list of at least3 professional references and a current curriculum vitae.Applicants should also provide a shareable link to a 3-5 minutevideo using ASL describing their teaching philosophy andqualifications. Qualifications For lecturer positions in theINTN program, the Communication Sciences and Disorders departmentrequires a minimum of a Masters degree with three or more years of teaching experience. Proficiency in both using and understandingvariations of American Sign Language is required. ASLTA, BEIAdvanced/Master, or RID certification is preferred. Professionalreferences will be contacted.
