Description
  • Conduct evaluations for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric age groups through standardized assessments and direct observation.
  • Create customized treatment strategies targeting short-term objectives as well as long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges.
  • Deliver individualized speech therapy interventions concentrating on language, communication, fluency, voice, and swallowing skills.
  • Engage in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, physicians, nurses, caregivers, and family members, to enhance care plans.
  • Provide education for patients and families to promote progress between therapy sessions.
  • Occasionally assist with inpatient evaluations and interventions, ensuring seamless care continuity throughout each patient's healing journey.
  • Maintain precise documentation that adheres to all state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Stay updated with advancements in the field through ongoing education and collaborative discussion with peers.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology accredited by a recognized institution.
  • Fulfill a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) prior to obtaining ASHA certification, if applicable.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is highly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Skills
  • Thorough understanding of evidence-based practices for treating speech, language, and swallowing disorders across all age groups.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities, working effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adept at modifying therapeutic techniques to accommodate diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Solid clinical judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in navigating electronic medical records and documentation requirements.
