At Marias Technology, we do not build our own system, we support a large number of systems created for the insurance industry by our vendor partners. Marias business analysts translate our customers' business needs into clear requirements and specifications that configuration, development, and testing teams can act on. As part of this you will document requirements, write functional specifications, and help our customers get the system behavior they actually need. And it's our job to help our customers succeed.

As a Business Analyst on our Business Analysis team, you'll independently gather and document business requirements, translate them into clear functional specifications, and support system configuration and testing efforts. You'll build working knowledge of insurance functional areas and start contributing to solution discussions when system functionality doesn't fully align with business needs.

What you'll do

• Independently gather, document, and validate business requirements through interviews and meetings
• Translate business needs into clear functional specificationscovering both off-the-shelf configuration and customization needsfor development, configuration, and testing teams
• Review manuals and existing documentation and translate findings into specifications
• Identify missing, ambiguous, or conflicting requirements before development or configuration begins
• Validate that documented requirements reflect actual insurance business rules
• Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by developing test scenarios, validating results, and documenting findings
• Distinguish between requirement gaps and true system defects, and route them accordingly, following the appropriate ticketing or Change Management procedures
• Support system configuration and testing efforts
• Contribute to solution discussions when system functionality doesn't fully align with business needs
• Document billing-related requirementsbilling plans, payment schedules, invoicing, and delinquency/cancellation processeswith guidance
• Document straightforward third-party integration requirements and data mapping with guidance
• Train client personnel on the use of functional/business applications software as part of delivery activities
• Manage multiple assigned tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment

What you need

Required

• Associate's degree in a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
• Microsoft (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook) experience
• 1+ years of experience working with business processes, documentation, or software systems
• Proficiency with requirements/documentation and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, DevStride)
• Working knowledge of policy administration systems and the functional areas they support (policy, rating, billing, claims)
• Working knowledge of core billing concepts: billing plans, payment schedules, invoicing, and delinquency/cancellation processes
• Working knowledge of common third-party integration points (rating bureaus, payment processors, document generation, reporting)
• Familiarity with multiple insurance lines of business (e.g., personal lines, commercial lines)
• Ability to work full-time, in-office in Covington, OH

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Management, Accounting, or a related field
• Prior experience in the insurance industry
• Prior experience as an Associate Business Analyst or in a similar requirements-gathering role

About the pay range

$45,000$65,000 depending on experience. The starting salary depends on a variety of factors, including geographic location, relevant experience, and qualificationstell us honestly where you are and we'll do the same.

What we offer

Pay: $45,000$65,000/year depending on experience, paid semi-monthly (15th and end of month) via direct deposit

Health coverage effective the 1st of the month following your hire date
