Job Summary Provides day‑to‑day supervision of security/fire staff at assigned site(s) for the General Motors account and may travel from site to site as necessary. Functions as mentor to security supervisors and officers. Assures compliance with General Motors Global Security Manual, local site specific SOPs, as well as Supplier SOPs and Policy Manual. Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner. Evaluates risks and ensures adequate coverage for assigned General Motors site(s), including compliance with post orders and regulations. Advises management of emergency situations and ensures subordinates respond appropriately. Researches and makes recommendations on the implementation of best practices and key initiatives; ensures supplier policies are implemented and adhered to. Interfaces with plant/site management regarding security and fire prevention services, identifies problem areas, and provides recommendations and corrective action. Assists in the selection, orientation, development, and retention of staff in compliance with Government regulations. Provides emergency response advice to management and ensures security staff respond to emergencies appropriately. Ensures security staff deployment schedules are developed to meet General Motors requirements. Ensures security staff is trained to perform General Motors requirements. Follow‑up with other members of the GM Global Security Operations to discuss progress, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain consistency of practices. Conducts quarterly and annual reviews utilizing the Security Compliance System, maintaining corrective actions and recommendations. Conducts annual site vulnerability assessments to ensure General Motors compliance and provides recommendations on operations, policy, and technology. Ensures General Motors is billed accurately for Security Services; conducts weekly billing audits for compliance. Monitors compliance with regulatory and fire prevention requirements and safety items assigned by General Motors. Develops, maintains, and coordinates effective communication with outside emergency responders. Ensures the correct and consistent administration of the General Motors/Supplier Service Agreement and all General Motors Labor Agreements. Maintains data and records following General Motors retention guidelines and requirements. Ensures confidentiality and discretion of information. Able to perform multiple functions from multiple resources while appropriately prioritizing assignments as needed. Makes recommendations on managerial methods to improve workflow, simplify reporting procedures, or implement cost reductions. Responds to site emergencies and directs Security Activities; ensures shift security staff reacts appropriately via site procedures and Supplier/General Motors policies. Assures all incidents are reported, documented, and communicated per procedures; identifies trends and ensures corrective action is taken and followed up. Maintains basic first aid and CPR certifications. Ensures hot work permit process is properly administered and maintained. May supervise security staff in fire functions. Reports to designated site management/GM Global Security. Qualifications Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (any deviations must meet General Motors Global Security approval). Five years of progressively responsible, security‑related experience required; seven years preferred. Demonstrated understanding of security operations. Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision. Ability to organize workload for effective implementation. Strong analytical skills to analyze complex data and develop reasonable conclusions or innovative solutions. Demonstrates planning, organizational, and project management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong managerial skills with assertiveness. Ability to act decisively in emergency situations. Physical ability to respond to all medical emergencies. Ability to facilitate progressive change. Effective interpersonal skills at all levels and across diverse cultures. Team‑player orientation. Diplomacy skills and sensitivity protocol. Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment. Knowledge of card access, security, and safety systems. Excellent computer proficiency (Microsoft programs).
