Position Summary
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for conducting comprehensive behavior assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and other direct care staff. Working with individuals of all ages who have autism, intellectual disabilities, or other behavioral challenges, the BCBA focuses on reducing maladaptive behaviors and promoting the acquisition of functional, socially significant skills through evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods.

Position Summary
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for conducting comprehensive behavior assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and other direct care staff. Working with individuals of all ages who have autism, intellectual disabilities, or other behavioral challenges, the BCBA focuses on reducing maladaptive behaviors and promoting the acquisition of functional, socially significant skills through evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methods.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Conducting Behavior Assessments
- Perform Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to determine underlying causes of problematic behaviors.
- Collect and analyze behavioral and environmental data to identify trends and contributing factors.
- Prepare detailed assessment reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Conduct developmental and skill-based assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS) to guide individualized intervention planning.
- Develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans based on assessment outcomes.
- Identify appropriate interventions, including reinforcement strategies, antecedent modifications, and skill acquisition techniques.
- Implement systematic data collection and progress monitoring procedures.
- Ensure all interventions adhere to ethical and legal standards set by the BACB.
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance evaluations for RBTs and other paraprofessionals.
- Deliver training sessions for staff, families, and caregivers on ABA principles and intervention techniques.
- Support consistent implementation of treatment plans across different environments.
- Regularly review and analyze behavioral data to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Adjust interventions based on data-driven outcomes and client progress.
- Prepare reports and present updates to families, treatment teams, and stakeholders.
- Serve as the liaison between families and the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Coordinate with other professionals (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, educators) to ensure holistic care.
- Provide guidance and training for caregivers to support skill generalization across settings.
- Adhere to ethical standards set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Maintain client confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Stay current with research and best practices in ABA to ensure evidence-based service delivery.
- Participate in ongoing education, workshops, and conferences to maintain BCBA certification.
- Incorporate emerging research and methodologies into clinical practice.
- Master's degree or higher in behavior analysis, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Coursework meeting BACB certification requirements.
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
- California state licensure (BBS), if applicable.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Prior experience supervising or training behavior technicians preferred.
- Strong understanding of ABA principles, assessment methods, and intervention design.
- Proficiency in conducting FBAs and developing BIPs.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and data analysis skills.
- Effective time management and case coordination abilities.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to improving client outcomes.
- Strong ethical standards and attention to detail.
- Problem-solving and adaptive mindset.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary environments.
- Experience with tools such as VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS.
- Familiarity with direct instruction and natural environment teaching (NET).
- Experience in clinical, educational, or home-based settings.
- Fluency in Spanish or another language is a plus.
- Service delivery may occur in homes, schools, clinics, or community settings.
- Requires travel to client locations as needed.
- Flexible scheduling, including evenings or weekends, based on client needs.
