General Description As a Public Health Nurse serving Carbon County, you’ll be a leader in promoting health, preventing disease, and building stronger communities across Rawlins and the surrounding areas. Arrange and lead community health clinics and health education classes. Support public health core functions, prioritizing services that meet community needs. Administer adult and child vaccines, provide STI/HIV testing, manage TB testing, and more. Provide Ryan White case management, maternal and child home visitation, lactation counseling, and LT‑101 reviews. Collaborate with the nurse manager and public health response coordinator on emergency preparedness activities. Preferences / Agency Requirements Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming. Driver's license required. Knowledge Knowledge of laws, principles, practices, and techniques of professional nursing. Knowledge of the maintenance of medical records, charts, reports, and observations. Knowledge of principles of the nursing process and the scientific process. Knowledge of applying medical diagnosis and treatment to patient care. Knowledge of scientific concepts as a basis for decision‑making. Knowledge of physical, biological, and behavioral sciences. Knowledge of evaluation services and programs according to standards. Knowledge of work management and leadership theory and practice. Knowledge of federal, state, and local law pertaining to healthcare. Knowledge of public health core functions and essential services. Minimum Qualifications Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience in Nursing with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN. OR 3-5 years of progressive work experience Nursing with acquired knowledge at the level of an LPN. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming. Physical Working Conditions Lift/transfer patients to different positions. Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs. Restrain clients for treatments, climb stairs to patient homes, and drive long distances. Travel throughout the state and to national conferences if requested. Work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when the situation requires it. Notes FLSA: Non-Exempt The Wyoming Department of Health is an E-Verify employer. Hiring Bonus eligibility and conditions New state employees and temporary employees accepting a permanent position Current state employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been open to the public. One year of service in the position must be completed. Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay. Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date. Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
