Travel Nurse RN - ICU - Intensive Care Unit - $2,934 per week

Slate Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Rapid City, South Dakota. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 19 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Unit Overview 39-bed mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU & TICU) divided into pods Travelers generally remain within the mixed ICU; CVICU floating only if experienced Heavy trauma and high-acuity critical care population Minimum Requirements 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel strongly preferred 1.5 years ICU (excluding travel) significant RN experience may be considered with manager approval Minimum 1 completed travel assignment required (no first-time travelers) Must live 100 miles from any Monument Health facility Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelers Patient Population Medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro & trauma ICU patients Common diagnoses: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, post-cath, post-op, COVID & multi-system trauma Cardiac experience preferred (CABG/TAVR 24–48 hr post-op helpful, not required) Fresh open hearts handled primarily by experienced permanent staff Ratios 1:1 to 1:2 (1:3 only rarely, based on acuity) Required Certifications BLS ACLS NIHSS TNCC (Required before start date) Required Skills Epic experience (required) Ventilator management, telemetry & hemodynamic monitoring Vasopressors, sedation, paralytics & critical IV drips Proning & strong critical care assessment skills Fast-paced team environment Impella, IABP & CRRT strongly preferred Must be open to 48 hrs/week contracts (otherwise manager approval required) Floating Infrequent; may float to adult Med/Surg-Tele units if overstaffed (1:4 ratio) Support Staff 24/7 Respiratory Therapy ICU Charge RNs Nurse Aides & mobility support Intensivists on days; nights include Intensivists APP Scheduling Every other weekend preferred (not guaranteed) No call Phlebotomy & ICU midline support available Charting Epic (required) Omnicell Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) About Slate Healthcare Slate Healthcare is a premier travel healthcare staffing agency, connecting healthcare professionals with thousands of opportunities at top-tier hospitals and facilities across the country.
