Mechanical Technician

Summary: Assemble, adjust, troubleshoot packaging and processing equipment such as rollstock, tray sealers, and labelers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assemble and build quality electrical wiring and components for complete packaging and processing equipment. Troubleshoot and test functional performance of sub-assemblies (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic) and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure and humidity. Operate and test machinery. Report problems with quality, process, equipment, and material to production supervisor. Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel and others to resolve any problems. Perform and execute quality workmanship. Education and/or Experience: One-year certificate from college or technical school or six months of mechanical or electrical experience. Entry level mechanical and electrical aptitude to assemble, test and troubleshoot equipment. Basic use of hand and power tools. Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings Machine level \"A\" mechanical building and troubleshooting; sub-assemblies for UV225/UV250 and UV500-UV700. Other Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work independently or with a team. Ability to read engineering drawings. Ability to troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical problems. Solid communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas. Thrives in a fast-paced work environment; responds with a sense of urgency. Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces for extended periods, typically 8–10 hours per shift, and to regularly lift, push, pull, or carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional requirements of up to 75 pounds using assistance or mechanical aids. The role involves frequent repetitive motions, including grasping, reaching, and handling tools, as well as regular bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing to access equipment and work areas. Must demonstrate sufficient manual dexterity to perform precise hand movements and operate small tools, along with adequate visual abilities-including close and distance vision, depth perception, and color differentiation-to conduct quality inspections and monitor equipment. The position also requires the ability to hear alarms, equipment signals, and verbal instructions in environments with moderate to high noise levels. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud machinery, depending on the production area. Employees must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toe boots, and hearing protection when necessary.
