Instructor of Surgical Technology/Alexandria

Surgical Technology faculty are responsible for conducting assigned formal classroom teaching, consistent with curriculum design and content outcomes, to include didactic, laboratory, and clinic instruction. They collaborate to develop course outlines and clinical experiences to implement the curriculum design, as well as evaluate student performance in lecture, laboratory, and clinical courses. They provide academic advising, track transcripts and student progress, and analyze program data and outcomes in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures. Responsibilities 50% – Didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction; development and implementation of remedial plans. 25% – Develop, implement, and conduct or proctor assessments on program and course student learning outcomes; utilize the University’s LMS, Exam Soft, and Trajecsys. Requires travel to clinical sites in Central Alexandria and South Lafayette and surrounding areas. 15% – Develop instructional materials, course outlines, laboratory and clinical experiences to implement the curriculum design and any tasks assigned by the Director of Surgical Technology. 5% – Student academic advising, degree transcript tracking, track student progress, and retention of students. 5% – Participate in program, divisional, and University committees and meetings. Requires some travel to Eunice and Lafayette campuses. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology from a nationally recognized, accredited surgical technology education program. At least 2 years of recent experience within the past five years in either the operating room first scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited academic institution. 5 years of experience in either the operating room first scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both. Physical Demands The position requires repetitive physical activities: up to 33% of the time for lifting, pushing or pulling, sitting, and other tasks; 33%–66% of the time for squatting, standing, reaching, and bending; more than 66% of the time for walking, standing, and twisting. Vision requirements include near and far sight. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $47,000.00 – $54,000.00 annually.
