This position is responsible for the project planning, development and implementation of major project proposals and directing those projects in the repair, remodel and new construction activities on the campus. The campus is a large facility which consists of 20 buildings located on 128 acres, including approximately 243,180 sq. ft. of building space and all roads, parking lots and sidewalks in need of maintenance in compliance with the state, federal and other regulatory agencies to enhance the appearance, safety and function of the Home.

This position will also supervise the Maintenance, Facilities/Grounds/Transportation and Housekeeping departments to ensure and enhance the appearance, safety and function of the facility.

The Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings is a Domiciliary (DOM) which is an independent living community for Veterans. It provides a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. Minimum Qualifications

• *Four (4) years' experience in facilities management, construction management or business management, including developing and managing budgets and financial analysis, planning and directing major repairs, remodeling and new construction; and directing the work of contractors.

• Experience supervising operations and/or maintenance staff

• Knowledge of State and Federal codes, compliance and regulations such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Life Safety, HazMat codes, Fire Marshal orders, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) rules and regulations.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to clearly share and understand information across all levels of an organization.

• Experience in process improvement, such as preventative maintenance, and/or work request system.

• Possession of a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Certification for Underground Storage Tank Operation, or the ability to obtain on or before probationary period.

• Possession of or ability to obtain a Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Certification for Class D Water System Operator.

*Bachelor's degree in construction management, facilities management, or a related field can be substituted for 1 year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with State of Minnesota government procurement practices

• Possession of a Minnesota licensure as a Master Electrician, Master Plumber, or Chief Engineer.

• One year of experience supervising staff in a large multi-building facility or in healthcare facility.

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, facilities management, or a related field.

This position requires successful completion of the following:

• A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
