Overview Under the general supervision of the Cardiac Testing Manager, the technician performs and interprets ultrasonic evaluations of the heart, ensuring care is tailored to patient age and needs. Responsibilities Perform M-mode, two-dimensional, and Doppler echocardiography, including pulsed, CW, color flow, exercise, and contrast studies Follow imaging protocols as outlined in the CVI procedure manual Explain procedures to patients and address questions Provide safety and comfort to all patients in accordance with standards Assist in teaching cardiology fellows Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate patient needs Participate in data collection and analysis of research conducted by physician staff Engage in ongoing professional development and educational activities Maintain quality assurance, safety, and infection control in accordance with department policies Perform any related duties as required Assist patients and families to provide patient-centered care in alignment with the institution’s mission and values Minimum Qualifications Basic Knowledge Completion of a CAAEP‑accredited ultrasound program Eligibility to sit for the ARDMS certificate examination Demonstrated knowledge and skills for patient care across developmental stages and cultural contexts Experience At least two years of experience in cardiac ultrasound Work Environment and Physical Requirements Healthcare setting in a physicians’ office practice and ancillary health enterprise. Requires use of medical equipment and direct patient contact. Must follow safety procedures, use protective gear, and be able to walk, stand intermittently, lift up to 50 pounds, and avoid exposure to electrical hazards.
