Position Summary

This is a broad, high-impact role combining financial planning and analysis (FP&A), operational reporting, project analytics, forecasting, tax compliance, and data-driven process improvement .

The Financial Analyst will work closely with the Controller, executive leadership, Project Management, and Operations to turn financial and operational data into meaningful insights that support business decisions. The position will also take ownership of various multi-state tax compliance responsibilities, including sales and use tax, gross receipts and similar state and local taxes, and payroll tax administration.

We're looking for someone who doesn't simply produce reports, but asks questions, identifies trends, investigates discrepancies, and helps determine what the numbers mean for the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes in partnership with department and operational leaders.
• Develop financial models, cash flow forecasts, and scenario analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reporting for executive leadership.
• Develop and maintain executive dashboards, operational KPIs, and management reporting to provide visibility into company performance.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into actionable insights.
• Continuously improve reporting tools and processes to better support executive leadership and Operations.
• Analyze project performance, including revenue, costs, margins, profitability, forecasts, backlog, and other key project metrics.
• Analyze large financial and operational data sets and improve the integration of information across financial and operational systems.
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring reporting, compliance activities, and other manual processes.
• Evaluate and assist with the implementation of AI and automation solutions within Finance, Accounting, tax compliance, reporting, and Operations.
• Participate in financial system, reporting, data analytics, and technology improvement initiatives.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual state and local tax compliance, including sales and use tax, gross receipts tax (GRT), and other applicable filings.
• Research tax requirements associated with new project locations, including taxability, registrations, filing requirements, and ongoing compliance obligations.
• Respond to tax notices and support audits, working with taxing authorities, the Controller, and external tax advisors as needed.
• Serve as the primary Finance/Accounting contact with ADP for payroll tax administration and compliance.
• Monitor and reconcile federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and payments and coordinate resolution of notices, discrepancies, and account issues.
• Research payroll tax requirements and coordinate account setup as employees begin working in new jurisdictions.
• Coordinate the annual W-2 process, including reconciliation, review, corrections, and W-2Cs as necessary.
• Partner with Payroll and Accounting to ensure employee work locations and applicable tax jurisdictions are properly established.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, FP&A, tax, project controls, or a related role.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and fundamental accounting concepts.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability and willingness to research unfamiliar state and local tax requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage recurring compliance deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively

Preferred Experience

• Experience with multi-state sales and use tax compliance.
• Experience with payroll tax administration.
• Experience working with ADP or another payroll tax service provider.
• Experience with state and local tax registrations and compliance.
• Experience with construction accounting and job-cost reporting.
• Experience with Vista by Viewpoint or another ERP/accounting system.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• Experience developing executive dashboards, KPIs, or management reporting.
• Experience with business intelligence or data visualization tools.
• Experience with AI, automation, or financial process-improvement initiatives.
