Principal Project Controls – 1537 – Aiken, SC Deadline: 5-12-2026 (All official documents must be completed and returned before the deadline for candidate consideration.) Projected Start Date: Duration: 1 YEAR with two (2) 1 Year Renewal Options Number of Positions: 1 US Citizenship Required Job Summary The Principal Project Control Specialist is responsible for the organization, development, implementation, and maintenance of integrated project controls, financial analysis, and estimating processes for complex or high-value projects. This role provides leadership in planning, scheduling, cost control, and financial reporting functions, ensuring effective management of project resources throughout the lifecycle. Duties / Responsibilities Develop and maintain cost and schedule baselines, milestone schedules, work breakdown structures, and spend plans to support complex project execution. Perform advanced project controls activities including cost tracking, forecasting, and performance analysis; analyze cost and schedule variances and communicate mitigation strategies to management. Participate in routine cost reviews and schedule meetings; apply advanced project control concepts to provide technical leadership across multiple projects, guiding integrated project analysis and resolving performance issues. Perform financial and business analysis including variance, statistical, and scenario analysis; develop and maintain costing rates and analyze overhead and service pool variances to support budgeting; maintain financial data within systems such as PeopleSoft. Develop, implement, and maintain change management systems for engineering and construction scopes; define business system requirements while supporting system enhancements, testing, and implementation of financial and project controls systems. Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports including forecasts, analyses, and spend plans; perform complex business and operational analyses to improve cost effectiveness and efficiency. Serve as a liaison between project teams, clients, and business operations; provide leadership, technical direction, and training to project controls staff. Perform walkdowns, support construction maintenance scheduling and cost tracking, initiate special studies, and develop solutions for complex business challenges while applying an understanding of CAS/FAR principles. Work Hours A 40-hour work week is scheduled. SRNS utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s, 4/10s, and 9/80s. Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each workday includes a 30-minute lunch. Overtime may be required to meet deliverables. Required Qualifications – Education & Experience Education: A Master’s degree in Business Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience is required. OR A Bachelor’s degree with + years of relevant experience, OR an Associate’s degree with 11+ years of relevant experience, OR a High School diploma with fifteen years of relevant experience will be considered equivalent. Experience / Skills: Advanced proficiency in cost management systems, scheduling tools, estimating systems, and automated accounting systems. Strong understanding of project management principles, cost and schedule control, and construction, operations, or project startup environments. Experience with site business systems and financial controls is required. Candidate must possess experience with: PeopleSoft, OAS, and COBRA . Other Required Qualifications Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Previous SRNS experience and candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two years are preferred. The candidate must be able to perform field walkdowns and support construction maintenance scheduling and cost tracking. Any travel must be pre-approved and authorized prior to execution.
