WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Java Developer must have:
Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University is preferred.
• Alternative Path: If the candidate does not possess a relevant four-year degree, an additional four years of relevant work experience will be required.

Required Experience :

• Minimum of 5-7 years of Information Technology experience.
• Participate in the project planning and development process.
• Assist or lead in preparing programming specifications and in developing coding logic
• Design, code, test, and debug software application, independently
• Maintains highly complex and technical applications and systems
• Translating business and technical requirements into application architecture
• Implement and maintain DevSecOps (CI/CD)
• Performs other job-related tasks as assigned or required to support the duties outlined.

Required Technical Skills :

• Strong proficiency in Java with hands-on experience developing, testing, and deploying enterprise applications.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming , design principles, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and integrating with external services.
• Proficiency with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and/or Spring Security).
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL; familiarity with ORM tools (e.g., Hibernate/JPA).
• Experience with version control systems such as Git, including branching and pull-request workflows.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines , automated testing, and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver high-quality, maintainable code in a collaborative environment.

Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Familiarity with agile methodologies, testing, and debugging
Developing APIs per OpenAPI Specification

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills :

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure,)
• Exposure to front-end technologies such as JavaScript, React, Angular, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of DevOps practices , including Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with API design standards , authentication protocols and security best practices.
• Experience with performance tuning , profiling, and optimizing applications.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Security Clearance Level :

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
• This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

The likely salary range for this position is $68,000 - $92,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
