As an Java Developer, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USPS. You will play a crucial role in optimizing the business functions at USPS. Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University is preferred.
- Alternative Path: If the candidate does not possess a relevant four-year degree, an additional four years of relevant work experience will be required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of Information Technology experience.
- Participate in the project planning and development process.
- Assist or lead in preparing programming specifications and in developing coding logic
- Design, code, test, and debug software application, independently
- Maintains highly complex and technical applications and systems
- Translating business and technical requirements into application architecture
- Implement and maintain DevSecOps (CI/CD)
- Performs other job-related tasks as assigned or required to support the duties outlined.
- Strong proficiency in Java with hands-on experience developing, testing, and deploying enterprise applications.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming , design principles, and software engineering best practices.
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and integrating with external services.
- Proficiency with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and/or Spring Security).
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL; familiarity with ORM tools (e.g., Hibernate/JPA).
- Experience with version control systems such as Git, including branching and pull-request workflows.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines , automated testing, and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver high-quality, maintainable code in a collaborative environment.
Developing APIs per OpenAPI Specification
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure,)
- Exposure to front-end technologies such as JavaScript, React, Angular, or TypeScript.
- Understanding of DevOps practices , including Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with API design standards , authentication protocols and security best practices.
- Experience with performance tuning , profiling, and optimizing applications.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
