Part-Time Bus DriverWe are seeking a responsible and customer-focused Part-Time Bus Driver to join our senior resident transportation team. If you have a passion for driving and excellent interpersonal skills, we encourage you to apply.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork involves the daily operation of the F.L.E.R.T., disabled, and Senior Citizen Buses. Must function with a minimum of supervision and physically assist passengers as necessaryTransports Senior Citizens, disabled persons and other passengers within the boundaries of the City of FlorissantShall cautiously drive one or more types of automotive bus equipmentShall assist passengers as necessary entering and exiting the busShall perform daily driver maintenance on busesShall physically load and unload groceries and other materials from the bus and carry them up and down stairsKeeps and maintains First Aid kitsProvides general upkeep of buses and all pertinent equipmentMaintains daily logs accurately, regarding the necessary safety checks for buses and their activitiesShall maintain a daily record of passenger pickups and deliveriesShall coordinate the daily door-to-door pick-up scheduled with appointments made by phoneCoordinates with Senior Office in all emergency scenariosProvides assistance with passengers, regarding usage of the busesPromotes harmony and good will among passengers and with City of FlorissantThis is a safety sensitive positionPerforms other duties as directedEqual Opportunity Employer M/F/Disabled/VeteranRequirementsThis position requires sitting for long periods of time, bending, twisting and helping passengers, lift and move up to 25 lbs., seeing, hearing and talking.Education and ExperienceThe person in this position must have a high school diploma or its equivalentAbility to effectively meet and deal with the public; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to handle stressful situations is vital for this positionProven experience driving buses or large vehicles preferredExcellent driving skills and a clean driving recordStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to remain calm and professional in various situationsGood physical condition to assist with boarding and disembarking passengersFlexibility to work part-time hours, including evenings and weekendsKnowledge of traffic laws and safety regulationsLicenses and CertificationsA valid Class C Commercial Driver's License with an endorsement for Passenger/Bus is requiredBeing CPR certified is preferred.
