Location: McAllen, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $44.00/hour

Schedule: PRN | Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (As Needed to Cover PTO and Call-Offs)

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Technologist to support a leading healthcare organization in McAllen, TX. This PRN opportunity is ideal for an experienced laboratory professional who is committed to delivering accurate, high-quality diagnostic testing while supporting exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will be available on an as-needed basis to provide coverage for scheduled PTO and unexpected staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, complex, and specialized laboratory testing following established policies and procedures

• Verify specimen integrity, patient demographics, and test orders to ensure accurate processing and reporting

• Analyze test results, identify abnormal findings, and communicate critical values according to laboratory protocols

• Perform quality control procedures and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable test results

• Prioritize STAT testing and respond quickly to urgent laboratory requests while maintaining turnaround time expectations

• Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, processing, and storage procedures are followed

• Accurately enter patient demographics and laboratory results into the laboratory information system

• Assist with troubleshooting specimen issues and support laboratory workflow to maintain productivity

• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and notify leadership of equipment or quality concerns

• Comply with all laboratory safety standards, quality assurance programs, and regulatory requirements

• Perform additional laboratory duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required

• Current Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification required (ASCP, AMT, AAB, or equivalent accepted)

• Hematology experience preferred

• Experience performing clinical laboratory testing in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred

• Strong knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, quality control, and regulatory compliance

• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced laboratory environment

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Flexibility to work PRN hours based on departmental staffing needs
