Temporary Meeting Assistant*

Overview The Orange County Asset Management Services Department has an opening for a Temporary Meeting Assistant. The work involves setting up meetings and other events and assisting staff and residents during meetings and events, including setting up and taking down tables and chairs, ensuring bathrooms and meeting spaces are clean, complying with waste and recycling rules, and maintaining functional A/V technology. Position Details Maximum 15 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, including evenings. Location: 306 Revere Rd, Hillsborough, NC. Responsibilities Open, close and oversee events at facilities as assigned. Set up and take down tables, chairs, or other furniture as needed. Test AV equipment to ensure it is in working order. Provide janitorial support for facilities restrooms, including mopping, sweeping, trash removal, restocking toilet paper, paper towels, soap dispensers, and cleaning toilets and fixtures. Monitor and assist facility rental groups. Provide customer service to all customers using facilities and maintain relationships. Ensure rooms and facility exteriors are neat and orderly before or after events. Use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e‑mail, and database software in performing work assignments. Adhere to the department’s safety rules and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong customer service skills. Ability to work under stressful conditions and understand, follow, and complete oral and written instructions. Experience setting up rooms and dealing with furniture. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Additional Requirements Background check is required; employment cannot commence until cleared. Physical Requirements Ability to perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must possess visual acuity to operate a passenger vehicle, prepare and analyze data and figures, inspect parts, use measurement devices, and operate a computer terminal.
