Psychiatric/DD Nurse Full Time 15 % Recruitment Supplement & 10% Supplement for 2nd Shift

Responsibilities Assess and evaluate the nursing and medical needs of institutionalized patients. Initiate and direct implementation of nursing care plans. Observe, evaluate, and record patient behavior, condition, and response to medications, treatments, and therapeutic activities. Coordinate clinical and medical appointments. Provide professional nursing care, including administering medications, assisting with physical examinations, and taking and recording vital signs. Assist in feeding and grooming patients when needed. Teach patients and families appropriate health and safety practices. Respond to emergencies. Direct delivery and evaluate psychiatric and nursing care provided by lower-level professional and nonprofessional staff (e.g., LPNs, hospital aides, therapeutic program workers). Monitor LPN medication administration, documentation, patient care, and operation of medical equipment. Assist in orienting and training new nursing services employees. Prepare and review records and reports (e.g., incidents, restraints/seclusions, nursing care plans, shift reports, transfers, admissions and discharges). Update nursing care plans, transcribe and verify doctors' orders, and write treatment plans and nursing summaries. Serve as an interdisciplinary treatment team member, attending seminars, meetings, conferences, and in‑service training sessions. Qualifications Knowledge of professional nursing procedures. Experience in psychiatric or developmentally disabled nursing. Skill in employee training and development. Familiarity with state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures related to nursing. Public relations and counseling skills. Proficiency with the operation of medical equipment. Ability to handle both abstract and concrete variables. Strong written communication skills for producing meaningful, concise, and accurate reports. Demonstrated physical fitness.
