Corrections Food Service Leader 3

Position Summary This position serves as lead worker in the Food Service Department for Corrections Food Service Leader 2 staff and persons in our care / resident workers. The duties include training and directing staff, maintaining inventories, preparing production sheets, adjusting menus and menu items as needed and ensuring proper food safety and sanitation practices are employed. This position supervises the overall sanitation of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with all DOC, State, and Federal guidelines. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 03-13 with a starting pay of $23.94/hour . Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required. It has physical requirements related to performing job duties that involve standing and moving freely, preparing food, inspecting sanitation, operating appliances, lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasionally climbing stairs. Food service workers will work in a commercial-style kitchen in close proximity to other staff and resident workers, and must also comply with facility's health policies, including Tuberculosis Screening and Hepatitis Vaccination. Normally scheduled for 40 hours per week, typically four 10-hour shifts (either 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM). Rotating schedule includes mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Employee may be required to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs. May include weekends and holidays. Position is FLSA Non-Exempt. Not anticipated to travel regularly; occasional travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events. Qualifications Experience preparing and directing other workers in cooking and baking of foods (meats, vegetables, breads, desserts, bag lunches, and special occasion meals). Experience training or teaching others skills and tasks such as food preparation, cooking, baking, meat, cutting, and processing. Experience maintaining cleanliness, ensuring food safety, and monitoring compliance with sanitation standards. Experience scheduling the production of food to meet meal times for a large-scale food operation. Special Requirements Applicants must obtain ServSafe Food Manager Certification (or equivalent) within six months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
