Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing company vehicles and equipment to support daily operations. This position helps ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and available for use across all company divisions.

REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on company-owned trucks, vehicles, trailers, and equipment.

· Complete preventative maintenance tasks to ensure safe and reliable fleet operation.

· Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake system issues.

· Maintain accurate service records and report repair needs to management.

· Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.

· Respond to breakdowns and assist with emergency repairs as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine systems, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical components.

· Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues efficiently.

· Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Effective communication and time-management skills.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Minimum 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance, diesel repair, automotive repair, or related field required.

· Valid driver’s license required.

· ASE, diesel mechanic, or related certifications are preferred.

Working conditions are typical mechanical repair and maintenance environment.

Physical:

Primary functions require maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; possibly stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach and twist; push, pull, lift and/or carry light to moderate amounts of weight; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision:

See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing:

Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
