Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embracing organizational core values.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to form individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs and goals related to the diagnosis of each patient through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information and status updates for initial and reevaluation team conferences.
• Ensure accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in medical records.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and patient safety.
• Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel while providing direction and reassurance.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning and team building activities.
• Maintain communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, and equipment.
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation.
• Actively pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS required prior to first shift for specific locations.
• Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
