Test Engineer I

Test Engineer ITextron Systems is seeking new and recent graduates to join our Sea Systems business area to develop solutions in support of our unmanned surface vehicles programs. Current focal areas include autonomous control, advanced payload integration, vision systems, and other emerging technologies to enhance our unmanned surface vehicle platforms' capabilities. Your day may include designing, simulating, constructing, and field-testing autonomous surface vehicles and their subsystems. Our goal is to deliver disruptive autonomy technologies that enhance our customers' mission capabilities. We work on applied research and development initiatives as well as established programs, and leverage diversity of thought to improve Textron Systems' lines of robotic products.Responsibilities:Responsible for design, development, and execution of tests for products (hardware, software, systems) to ensure quality, functionality, and reliability, creating test plans, writing test cases, identifying defects, and collaborating with development teams for fixes, ultimately ensuring products meet specifications and user needs before launchTest Planning & Design: Understand requirements, define scope, objectives, and resources, then create detailed test plans, strategies, and proceduresTest Case Development: Write specific test cases and scripts for various tests (functional, performance, security, etc.)Test Execution: Run tests, monitor the development and production process, and manage controlled testing environmentsDefect Management: Identify, document, report, and track software/hardware and product defectsCollaboration & Feedback: Work with developers, process engineers, and management to provide insights, suggest improvements, and ensure quality standards are metReporting: Analyze results, document findings, preparing and presenting test engineering work products to internal review teams and external customers at program milestone reviewsInteract daily with technical leads, program managers, planners, technicians, and other engineersDriving tasks to completion independently – aided by appropriate supervision and mentoringCollaborating with others within the workgroup, with other departments, and the customerQualifications:0 – 2 years demonstrated project leadership experience preferredExperience with hardware and/or software integration, managing requirements derivation and allocation, or architecture designBachelor's and/or master's degree in engineering (software, mechanical, electrical, systems) or a related fieldTesting and integrating new technology into our family of Ground Vehicle products throughout the lifecycle of the programExecuting test engineering tasks – including (but not limited to) requirements analysis, design review support, formal validation planning, test, verification, risk management, and engineering analysisPreparing and presenting test engineering work products – including (but not limited to) test plans, procedures, and reports to internal review teams and external customersInteracting daily with varying US Government customers, commercial customers, program managers, planners, and techniciansExperience with Windows and/or Unix operating systems is a plusEffective and efficient writing and presentation skillsExperience with DOORS, JIRA, and MagicDraw (or equivalent) is strongly preferredA good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)Ability to travel up to 25%Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret eligibility requiredAt Textron Systems, our talented people make us successful.
