Lee County is looking for a motivated Technician to join our team and help keep our Transit fleet running safely and reliably. In this role, you'll perform preventive maintenance, complete essential repairs, and support diagnostic work alongside experienced senior technicians. Retirees of the Investment Plan are eligible for renewed membership in the Investment Plan only. FRS reemployment rules apply for both.

Description
Lee County is looking for a motivated Technician to join our team and help keep our Transit fleet running safely and reliably. - Perform regular maintenance on transit vehicles, including inspections, changing fluids and filters, lubricating parts, and rotating tires.
- Check steering, suspension, and brake systems to make sure they are working safely.
- Replace basic parts like belts, hoses, batteries, alternators, starters, water pumps, and cooling system parts.
- Use diagnostic tools to read fault codes and perform simple electrical tests.
- Help senior technicians find and fix problems with engines, transmissions, electrical systems, HVAC, and multiplex systems.
- Fill out work orders correctly, including labor time, parts used, and repairs done.
- Report any other problems or needed repairs to a supervisor.
- Understand basic gasoline and diesel engine functions, air brake systems, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- One (1) year of hands-on automotive, diesel, or fleet maintenance experience
- Have a valid Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsement and no Air Brake restriction, OR
- Have a CDL Permit with Passenger Endorsement before hire
- Must get a Florida Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement within 30 days of hire (training and testing provided onsite)
- This is a safety-sensitive position that is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as provided in DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40 and 655.
