Orthopedic Technician

Category: Patient Care Svcs(Tech & Asst) Posting #: 1054197 Employee Type: PRN Position Summary This position assists the orthopedic practitioners and other staff members with the care and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal conditions. The Orthopedic Technician will predominately operate in the clinic locations however, there are occasions where they may be required to perform work in a hospital based setting. Position Duties Applies and removes casts, changes dressings, and removes sutures/staples as directed by the presiding practitioner. The employee documents actions taken, supplies used, techniques utilized, related measurements, etc. in the patient's electronic medical record according to Phoenix Children's policy. Assists providers with the application, adjustment and removal of splints, slings and other orthopedic DME related appliances. Maintains a clean and safe working environment. Oversees the orthopedic material stock levels and places orders to replenish supplies on an as needed basis. Supports routine clinic care functions, including patient intake, discharge, and care follow up Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested. Required Experience Do you meet this requirement or have the ability to obtain it within the timeframe listed in the requirement? 1. Two or more years as a cast technician in a similar clinical setting. Ability to creat a positive rapport with the patienst and their family members while working in a stressful healthcare environment. Required 2. Ability to work autonomously while rendering a high-level of quality care. Current BLS Certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association. Required 2. Certified as an Orthopedic Technologist (OT) through the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists (NAOT) or similar accrediting organization.
