SAT & ACT Classroom Instructor / Tutor (Part-Time, Hourly)

Location: In-Person throughout Nassau County, Long Island, NY, with remote tutoring opportunities available

Compensation: $45–$60 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Exceptional candidates with extensive SAT/ACT instructional experience may be considered for higher compensation.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS: This position requires reliable personal transportation, weekday-evening availability between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM, and some weekend availability. To ensure the role is a good fit, please apply only if you meet all three requirements.

Method Learning is seeking engaging, dependable educators to join our growing instructional team. We're hiring part-time, hourly instructors to lead SAT and ACT preparation classes at local high schools while also providing remote and in-person one-on-one tutoring throughout the year.

About the Position

This role combines classroom instruction with individual tutoring , providing a variety of teaching opportunities throughout the year.

As a Method Learning Instructor, you will:

• Teach SAT and ACT preparation courses at partner high schools throughout Nassau County.
• Provide one-on-one tutoring to students both remotely and in person .
• Deliver engaging, supportive instruction that helps students build confidence and improve their academic performance.
• Foster a positive, organized classroom environment that encourages participation and learning.
• Complete basic administrative tasks such as session logs, attendance, and class communication.

You Teach. We Provide the Curriculum.

One of the best parts of this position is that you are not responsible for creating lesson plans or developing curriculum.

Method Learning has developed a comprehensive SAT and ACT curriculum that includes instructor guides, lesson plans, presentations, practice materials, and teaching resources. You'll receive training on our instructional approach and then focus on what great educators do best—connecting with students, presenting the material, and creating an engaging learning experience.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for educators who enjoy working with high school students and are passionate about helping them succeed.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Previous classroom teaching and/or tutoring experience
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Professionalism, reliability, and organizational skills
• The ability to motivate, encourage, and engage students

Subject Expertise

Our preference is to hire instructors who are comfortable teaching both the Math and English sections of the SAT and ACT. However, we recognize that many outstanding educators specialize in one subject. If you're an experienced Math or English teacher or tutor who prefers to teach within your area of expertise, we strongly encourage you to apply. We can often accommodate highly qualified subject specialists.

Previous experience teaching or tutoring SAT and/or ACT students is a plus, but it is not required . Exceptional classroom teachers who are eager to learn our curriculum are encouraged to apply.

Transportation & Travel

Our classroom programs are offered at partner high schools throughout Nassau County, Long Island .

Reliable personal transportation is a firm, non-negotiable requirement for this position. Candidates without reliable personal transportation will not be considered.

Applicants must be comfortable driving to assigned school locations for evening classes throughout Nassau County. Remote tutoring opportunities do not replace or waive the personal transportation requirement.

Tutoring opportunities are available both remotely and in person . Remote tutoring requires no travel and can be conducted from home.

Schedule

This is a part-time, hourly position. Candidates must be available for weekday evening work between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM and for some weekend assignments. If you do not have availability during the week within this evening window, please do not apply.

Typical opportunities include:

• Weekday evening classroom instruction, with availability required between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM
• Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday class schedules during the school year
• One-on-one tutoring during afternoons, evenings, and weekends; some weekend availability is required
• Remote tutoring from home
• Optional in-person tutoring assignments

Hours vary based on course schedules, tutoring demand, and your availability.
