About the Position

Job Title: OR Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: Certification preferred for Technicians Description: Unit has 7 surgical suites. Average number of cases per day is 18-20. Certifications required include ACLS and BLS; CST certification is preferred for Technicians. Staffing ratios are 1:1 and 2:1. Electronic Medical Records system used is Cerner. Charge Nurse is present. Operating Room Technicians are available. There is no weekend requirement for RNs or CSTs. RNs are required to be on call some nights and weekends. Call schedule includes one weeknight per week and two 12-hour weekend call shifts per month. Response time for call is 30 minutes. Holiday shifts are required. Scrub colors are provided. Telemonitoring uses Phillips technology. Ventilators are available and monitored 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Shifts may vary between 8 and 10 hours. Floating is only to pre- and post-operative areas. Specific orientation to the floor is provided. Common types of surgical cases include laparoscopic, bariatrics, orthopedics, neurology, urology, gynecology, and ENT. Scrubbing is preferred but not required for RNs. Sterile processing certification may include IAHCSMM or CBSPD. Duties include assembly of surgical sets and decontamination tasks. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for shorter assignments. Charting is done using Cerner. A BSN is not required for this position. Position operates within a Trauma Level 3 care setting. This role is based in an acute care environment.
