HOURS PER DAY: Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

SESSION DATES: June 16, 2026, through July 23, 2026, with the week of July 6th off.


NOTE: Positions are strictly contingent upon sufficient funding and student enrollment.


SALARY: Licensed contracted staff will receive the certified hourly rate of pay.

Summary


The Behavior Specialist helps coordinate and implement Behavior Intervention Plan that address student


behaviors and provide a means to help students become more successful. The Behavior Intervention Specialist


provides leadership and direction to design, implement, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive behavior


support program. In addition, the Behavior Specialist works directly with identified students to adopt behaviors


that substantially increase their academic performance. Under the supervision of the building principal, the


Behavior Intervention Specialist will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted


students. The teacher will implement into daily student instruction appropriate educational curriculum based on


the Nevada State Standards and the Carson School District expectations. The teacher will create and maintain an


educational atmosphere that encourages effective student learning and supports school and district programs and


goals. This person will be expected to adhere to the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitate a positive behavioral change in students.
• Provide direct and indirect social emotional instructional support to students in a positive environment.
• Facilitate highly specialized positive behavior interventions that are explicit, intensive, accelerated and


provides ample practice for students with challenging behaviors.
• Develop behavior intervention strategies consistent with instructional goals, teaching methods, and


individual student needs to improve student behaviors.
• Teach socially acceptable behaviors, as determined from a variety of data sources such as a student's


behavior needs assessment, other quantitative and qualitative data sources, and formal observations.
• Use ongoing data sources to maintain a record of student progress.
• Develop strategies that assist students in assessing their own behavior.
• Meet with parents to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and


their social and emotional needs.
• Review behavioral referrals and discipline data reports.
• Collaborate with team to develop strategies and techniques to support the positive behavior development


of the student.
• Develop behavior intervention plans to support students as they transitioned to a comprehensive school


setting.
• Administer appropriate district curriculum, which is aligned with the Nevada State Standards.
• Facilitate multiple intervention blocks throughout the day with K-5 students.
• Ensure the opportunity for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
• Create and maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning condition in the instructional


environment.
• Develop and implement the components of an effective lesson for instruction.
• Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction.
• Provide a classroom management/discipline plan ensuring safety at all times.
• Ensure assessment regulations and guidelines are followed at all times.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
