Our programs include Outpatient Therapy (OPT) and Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS), supported by a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health professionals.

We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our Outpatient Therapy (OPT) program and provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and consultation services to our clients.

Position Summary

The Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric services to individuals receiving care through Dunbar Wellness Group’s Outpatient Therapy program.

This position will conduct psychiatric evaluations, establish diagnoses, provide medication management, monitor treatment response, and collaborate with therapists and other members of the clinical team to ensure coordinated and clinically appropriate care.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, sound prescribing practices, timely documentation, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
• Evaluate clients for psychiatric and medication-related treatment needs.
• Diagnose psychiatric and behavioral health conditions within the psychiatrist’s scope of practice.
• Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications as clinically appropriate.
• Monitor medication effectiveness, adherence, side effects, contraindications, and overall treatment response.
• Educate clients and, when appropriate, families or caregivers regarding medications, treatment recommendations, risks, benefits, and potential side effects.
• Develop and document psychiatric treatment recommendations.
• Review relevant clinical history, medical information, previous treatment, medications, and other information necessary for appropriate psychiatric care.
• Collaborate with therapists, clinical leadership, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Participate in treatment planning, case consultation, and coordination of care as clinically appropriate.
• Communicate recommendations and significant clinical concerns to appropriate members of the treatment team.
• Identify and appropriately respond to psychiatric emergencies, safety concerns, suicidal or homicidal ideation, and other situations requiring immediate clinical intervention.
• Make appropriate referrals for higher levels of care, emergency services, or additional medical/behavioral health services when indicated.
• Complete psychiatric evaluations, medication-management notes, orders, and other required clinical documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
• Maintain accurate and complete records within the organization’s electronic health record system.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.
• Maintain professional and ethical boundaries with clients, families, and staff.
• Participate in clinical meetings, case consultations, quality-improvement activities, and audits as required.
• Maintain all licenses, registrations, credentials, and other professional requirements necessary for the position.
• Adhere to Dunbar Wellness Group policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, payer, and behavioral health program requirements.
• Perform other clinically appropriate duties related to the position as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program .
• Current, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania .
• Current prescribing authority and DEA registration , as applicable to assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to meet applicable credentialing and enrollment requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychopharmacology.
• Ability to complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.
• Ability to successfully complete all required background, credentialing, exclusion-screening, and onboarding requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
• Previous experience in an outpatient behavioral health or community mental health setting .
• Experience providing psychiatric medication management.
• Experience serving Medicaid and/or managed behavioral health populations.
• Experience working with culturally and clinically diverse populations.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and behavioral health documentation requirements.
• Experience collaborating with therapists, social workers, counselors, case management, and other behavioral health professionals.

Credentialing & Compliance Requirements

Selected candidates will be required to provide and maintain applicable documentation, which may include:

• Pennsylvania Medical License
• DEA Registration
• NPI
• Education and residency verification
• Board certification/eligibility documentation, if applicable
• Professional liability insurance, as required
• Required background clearances
• Employment/professional history verification
• Exclusion and sanction screenings
• Required organizational and regulatory trainings
• Additional documentation required for payer or organizational credentialing
