Overview The Overnight Loss Prevention Officer ensures the safety and tranquil stay of hotel guests and employees, enforces hotel policies, records assigned tasks, and prepares incident and accident reports accurately and in the format specified by the Director of Loss Prevention. Responsibilities Observe and report on all assignments. Keep accurate records and communicate using radio equipment. Record and report any unsafe conditions while patrolling hotel property. Ensure protection and preservation of hotel, guest, and employee property. Maintain a professional attitude and appearance. Patrol hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and employees and to protect all hotel assets. Answer house calls to assist guests and associates with safety, security, and hotel operations. Initiate and follow up with all investigations of crimes committed against property and persons. Assist sick or injured guests or associates, ensuring all documentation, reporting, and witness statements are completed promptly. Initiate investigations, write incident and accident reports, monitor investigations to their timely conclusion, and ensure appropriate follow‑up with guests, visitors, and employees, documenting all contacts. Maintain accurate records while performing duties such as camera monitoring, shift activity log, codebook, and employee/guest interactions. Monitor and distribute visitor and vendor access by issuing visitor badges. Perform frequent bag checks for associates leaving the property. Escort and interact with special guests who require privacy when entering or exiting heart‑of‑the‑house areas. Maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive guest or associate issues. Assist supervisor or director in checking alarm, safety, and fire alarm systems, and closely monitor security of building doors, service areas, delivery areas, and grounds. Assist hotel management in emergency situations by knowing all safety procedures and leading or directing guests and associates to safety. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience as a Loss Prevention Officer is strongly preferred. Must be able to stand, walk, and move for the entire shift (up to 4 hours). Must be able to communicate effectively by telephone, email, radio, and report writing. Must have basic computer knowledge. Must be able to reach various areas of the hotel/resort at a rapid pace if necessary. First Aid/CPR Certification is preferred. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch for daily tasks. Must be able to lift items weighing more than 15 lbs. routinely. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. Must be able to work in limited space and reach other departments and locations of the hotel, including outside the hotel grounds, on a timely basis. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity. Must remain calm and professional during stressful situations. Must work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Must use office equipment such as computers, printers, a 10‑key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi‑line touch‑tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, a dolly, and other office equipment as needed.
