Also based in our New York headquarters are our sales, marketing, administrative, and service teams, who work closely together to ensure every customer receives a seamless, personalized experience at every touchpoint.Role SummaryThe Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of electrical systems and embedded hardware for Clarapath's advanced SectionStar™ and TrimStar Pro™ platforms. This individual will contribute to all phases of the product development lifecycle, from concept development and circuit design through prototyping, verification, manufacturing, and field deployment. Working closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, and customer-facing teams, the Electrical Engineer will help develop reliable, manufacturable solutions that meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.We are seeking a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, and is passionate about developing innovative medical device and automation technologies that improve laboratory workflows and patient outcomes.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and validate analog and digital electronic circuits for SectionStar™ and TrimStar Pro™ platformsDevelop electrical architectures, schematics, PCB layouts, cable assemblies, and system-level wiring documentationSelect and evaluate electrical components, sensors, motors, actuators, power supplies, and communication interfacesSupport embedded hardware development and collaborate with software engineers on firmware integration, debugging, and system validationPerform electrical testing, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and failure investigations throughout product development and productionCreate and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), design specifications, test protocols, and engineering change orders (ECOs)Support prototype builds, design verification testing (DVT), production validation, and manufacturing transfersCollaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to improve product manufacturability, reliability, and serviceabilityEnsure designs comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards for medical devicesParticipate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiativesProvide technical support for production, field service, and customer issues as neededQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline3+ years of electrical engineering experience in product developmentExperience designing analog and digital circuitsExperience with PCB design and schematic capture toolsKnowledge of embedded hardware, sensors, motors, power electronics, and communication protocolsExperience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power suppliesStrong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentExperience developing medical devices, laboratory automation systems, robotics, or other regulated products, a plusFamiliarity with EMC/EMI, electrical safety, and regulatory standards, a plusExperience supporting design verification, validation, and manufacturing, a plusKnowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based hardware, a plusExperience working within an ISO 13485 quality management system, a plusCompany OffersCompetitive salary, commensurate with experience and educationComprehensive benefits package available: (healthcare, vision, dental and life insurances; 401k; PTO and holidays)A collaborative and diverse work environment where our teams thrive on solving complex challengesAbility to file IP with the companyConnections with world class researchers and their laboratoriesCollaboration with strategic leaders in healthcare and pharmaceutical worldA mission driven organization where every team member will be responsible for changing the standards of delivering healthcareClarapath is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
