Job Title: Electrical Engineer Overview: As a Refinery Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing electrical systems and equipment within the refinery to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Your role will involve providing technical expertise, conducting assessments, overseeing projects, and implementing solutions to meet electrical engineering objectives and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities:
- Electrical System Design and Engineering:
- Design and develop electrical systems, equipment, and components for refinery facilities, including power distribution systems, motor control centers, instrumentation, and lighting systems.
- Conduct electrical load calculations, voltage drop analysis, short-circuit studies, and coordination studies to ensure system reliability and compliance with electrical codes and standards.
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents for electrical construction and installation projects, collaborating with engineering teams and contractors.
- Equipment Maintenance and Reliability:
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment and machinery, such as transformers, switchgear, motors, generators, and control systems, to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
- Conduct root cause analysis and failure investigations to identify and address electrical equipment failures, malfunctions, and performance issues, implementing corrective and preventive measures as needed.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, schedules, and procedures to optimize the lifecycle performance of electrical assets and mitigate risks of unplanned outages.
- Project Management and Execution:
- Lead electrical engineering projects from concept to completion, including scope definition, budget estimation, scheduling, procurement, construction oversight, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors to ensure project objectives are achieved on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress, track expenditures, and report project status to management, identifying potential risks, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, regulations, and best practices, including NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and API standards, to protect personnel, equipment, and the environment from electrical hazards.
- Conduct electrical safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards, implementing safety measures and controls as necessary.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to refinery personnel on electrical safety practices, procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, energy efficiency improvements, and cost reduction initiatives in electrical systems and operations, leveraging new technologies, best practices, and industry trends.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams, committees, and forums to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the refinery.
