Your mission
Execute and lead safe, compliant, and efficient ground and flight testing of production aircraft, provide real-time operational decision-making, and represent Airbus with professionalism throughout customer delivery and industry engagements.
What you’ll do
- Captain production flights end-to-end, including signing and executing the Flight Order prepared and co-signed by the L‑FTE.
- Exercise authority under DOA delegation from the Head of Flight Test to approve flight conditions and strictly fly the authorized test plan within the approved envelope and aircraft limitations.
- Adapt in real time: concur with L‑FTE modifications when warranted by analysis, instrumentation, weather, or serviceability; retain the right to remove unsuitable items from the Flight Order.
- Lead comprehensive briefings and coordinate ground and in-flight arrangements with the I‑FTE and dispatch to ensure safe, efficient operations.
- Conduct post-flight technical debriefs; collaborate with Engineering to resolve faults and close observations from approved test activities.
- Engage continuously with customers during the delivery process; communicate Airbus‑approved positions on flight‑test and industry topics with clarity and diplomacy.
- Support training departments; fly external missions (e.g., lease‑recovery, developmental, and commercial‑event flights) as needed.
- Provide short‑term assistance to Airbus flight‑test centers in Toulouse, Hamburg, Tianjin, and Mirabel; attend or present at relevant conferences.
What you bring
- Graduate of an EASA‑recognized flight‑test school: ETPS, EPNER, USNTPS, USAFTPS, NTPS, or ITPS.
- 3,000+ total flight hours and 1,000+ hours as a flight‑test pilot.
- Current multi‑pilot instrument rating; ICAO ATPL eligible for conversion to an EASA ATPL.
- ICAO English Level 5 (or higher) and recent Fly‑By‑Wire experience.
- Proven communication and consensus‑building skills; able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Dependable, self‑motivated, and accessible; comfortable with customer‑facing responsibilities.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Operating environment & safety
- Fully onsite role in Mobile, AL.
- International travel without accompaniment for approximately three months.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to carry and lift up to 30 lb/14 kg; operate required equipment safely.
- Use of personal protective equipment as required (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, protective gloves).
