The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java, SQL databases, Linux environments, and enterprise application support. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and participate in application modernization initiatives, including legacy mainframe migration to Java-based platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise Java applications.
- Support large-scale production applications and resolve complex technical issues.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database interactions.
- Work in Linux environments to deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain applications.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, QA teams, and stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Use Jira and other Atlassian tools to manage tasks, defects, and project activities.
- Contribute to application modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy mainframe systems to Java/SQL platforms.
- Perform code reviews and follow coding standards and best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
- 10+ years of SQL database development and optimization experience.
- 8+ years supporting and developing large enterprise applications in a team environment.
- 5+ years of Linux experience.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, application architecture, and software development best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the Atlassian tool suite, especially Jira.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Experience supporting State of Texas applications or the Texas Department of Public Safety.
- Experience modernizing legacy mainframe applications to Java/SQL-based solutions.
