Warehouse IT Technician
Location: Zanesville, Ohio
Pay Rate: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour
Position Overview
Our client, a consumer products organization, is seeking a Warehouse IT Technician for an onsite, three-month contract engagement in Zanesville, Ohio. The role provides hands-on technical support for the systems and devices that keep a distribution center operating.
This position sits at the intersection of IT support and warehouse operations. It suits a technician who is comfortable troubleshooting on the floor rather than from a desk, and who understands that when a scanner or a printer fails in a distribution center, shipments stop.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide frontline technical support to warehouse and office users, troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues, logging tickets accurately, and resolving or escalating them with appropriate urgency based on operational impact.
You will support warehouse-specific technology including handheld RF scanners and mobile computers, barcode and label printers, wireless access points and coverage, workstations, and time and attendance devices, keeping this equipment configured, updated, and available.
You will assist with warehouse management system support at the user level, helping resolve device connectivity and configuration issues, verifying that scanning and printing workflows function correctly, and liaising with application support teams on issues beyond local resolution.
You will manage IT asset inventory and spare device pools, perform device staging, imaging, and deployment, maintain documentation of local systems and procedures, support network and cabling issues within the facility, and provide user guidance and informal training to warehouse staff.
You will support business continuity in the facility by responding urgently to outages that halt operations, communicating status clearly to operations leadership, and coordinating with corporate IT and vendors on escalated issues. You will also participate in planned change activity such as system upgrades, device refreshes, and network changes, often scheduled outside peak operating hours to limit disruption.
Requirements
Prior IT support or help desk experience is required, including hands-on hardware troubleshooting and end-user support in a business environment.
You must have working knowledge of Windows operating systems, basic networking concepts including TCP/IP, DHCP, and wireless connectivity, and printer and peripheral configuration and troubleshooting.
Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication with non-technical users are essential. The role requires onsite presence in Zanesville, Ohio, mobility throughout a warehouse environment, the ability to lift equipment up to fifty pounds, and occasional work at heights when servicing wireless equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior IT support experience within a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred, particularly with RF scanning equipment and industrial label printers.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems, Zebra or Honeywell device platforms, Active Directory administration, mobile device management tooling, and certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+ are all advantageous.
Experience supporting a facility through a warehouse management system implementation or upgrade is highly valued. Familiarity with barcode label design and print server configuration, wireless site survey and coverage troubleshooting, VoIP telephony support, and basic server or virtualization exposure are all advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
This engagement pays an hourly rate in the range of $23.00 to $25.00, based on experience, across a three-month contract with a defined end date.
You will gain distribution technology support experience combining traditional IT skills with warehouse systems exposure, a combination that is consistently in demand across logistics and consumer goods organizations. Extension or conversion may be possible depending on performance and organizational need.
