Technologist-Echocardiographer

Job Summary Performs imaging procedures/treatments according to radiology practice standards in order to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiologic principals/theory and utilizes the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal procedures/treatments, as demonstrated by procedure/treatment results. Develops appropriate procedure/treatment plan. Implements procedure/treatment plan utilizing established BMG protocols/guidelines. Completes documentation as required to comply with BMG policies and procedures. Maintains equipment, procedure/treatment rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Participates in BMG and departmental performance improvement activities to ensure that patient care is consistent with established standards. Completes assigned goals. Experience Recent experience as a sonographer. Education Registered by ARDMS and/or CCI or new graduate who is waiting to take registry. Proof of registry/certification required by primary source must be available within 12 months of graduation. Licensure ARDMS/CCI or new graduate who will obtain required registry/certification within 12 months of hire. BLS required within 14 days of hire. Special Skills Basic computer literacy skills. Functional Demands Non‑physical (sedentary) work with light lifting of up to 10 lb. Light: lifting 10‑35 lb. and moving 15‑100 lb. carts. Moderate: lifting 25‑50 lb., pushing 20‑100 lb. and carrying 30‑150 lb. Heavy: lifting 40‑80 lb., carrying 150‑200 lb. and moving large patient beds. Physical activities include sitting for long periods, standing, walking, climbing, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, and occasional light or heavy lifting. Environmental Requirements Blood‑borne pathogens and chemical hazards present. Airborne communicable diseases possible. Radiation exposure possible.
