Job Summary
Th e Technology Quality Technician is responsible for performing quality control activities within an electronics manufacturing environment, including inspections, testing, measurement, documentation, and reporting of results. This role combines hands-on technical skills with an understanding of quality management systems and the impact that nonconforming materials, components, and equipment can have on product performance and reliability.
Job Description
- Perform quality inspections of documentation, parts, components, materials, subassemblies, and finished or in-process equipment against established specifications.
- Use properly calibrated measurement systems and inspection equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Verify that measurement equipment has valid calibration and acceptable repeatability and reproducibility.
- Follow applicable inspection procedures, test plans, standard work, and quality requirements.
- Perform manufacturing and engineering tests in accordance with established procedures and standard work.
- Assist with the design, development, setup, and use of test fixtures and testing equipment.
- Support the setup and execution of tests for electronics manufacturing and SMT processes.
- Apply soldering and electronics manufacturing knowledge when performing inspections and testing.
- Ensure all inspection and testing activities are performed safely and in accordance with established requirements.
- Participate in the creation and review of Hazard Analyses and Risk Controls associated with inspection and testing activities.
- Perform calibration of measurement systems when authorized and properly qualified.
- Maintain familiarity with inspection procedures, test procedures, standard work, and test plans.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve inspection and testing procedures.
- Accurately document inspection and test results and maintain required quality records.
- Monitor results over time and verify stability and consistency where practical.
- Identify nonconformances and communicate quality issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Apply an understanding of the Quality Management System when evaluating inspection and test results.
- Support investigations and resolution of quality issues as needed.
- Use Manufacturing System principles, tools, and methodologies to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and other teams to support product quality and process improvements.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
- Shift: 1st Shift M-F, 06:00 - 02:00 p.m.
Skills Required
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in quality inspection, electronics manufacturing, manufacturing testing, soldering, metrology, or a related technical environment.
- Experience working with SMT or electronics manufacturing processes preferred.
- Field experience is not required.
- PC-A-610 certification or J-STD-001 certification required.
- Additional electronics manufacturing, soldering, inspection, or quality certifications are beneficial.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of soldering.
- Knowledge of metrology and measurement principles.
- Understanding of electronics manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Ability to inspect electronic components, assemblies, and manufacturing materials.
- Ability to use measurement and inspection equipment accurately.
- Understanding of quality inspection methods and documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications, procedures, drawings, and test requirements.
- Basic understanding of Quality Management Systems and nonconformance concepts.
- Basic proficiency with computers and standard PC applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to accurately document inspection and test results.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and standard work.
- Ability to identify problems and communicate issues clearly.
- Ability to work effectively with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.
- Ability to provide constructive input for process and procedure improvements.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to following established safety practices.
Education
- High School Di ploma or GED
- Additional technical education, electronics manufacturing coursework, or quality-related training is a plus.
Pay Rate
