Postdoctoral Research Positions in Condensed Matter Theory Harvard University, Department of Physics, School of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. One or more postdoctoral fellows will begin in Fall 2026. The Quantum Condensed Matter Theory groups, led by Professors Eslam Khalaf, Mikhail Lukin, Subir Sachdev, Ashvin Vishwanath, Norman Yao, Susanne Yelin, Bertrand Halperin (Emeritus), and Professor Efthimios Kaxiras, seek candidates with strong interests in quantum mechanical condensed matter theory. Responsibilities Conduct advanced research in areas such as strongly correlated electron systems, mesoscopics, topological phases, ultracold atomic gases, quantum optics, and quantum information. Develop theoretical models, perform analytical and numerical calculations, and prepare manuscripts for publication. Collaborate with faculty members across the department and at the Simons Collaboration on Ultra‑Quantum Matter. Present results at group meetings and scientific conferences. Funding and Fellowships Applicants will be automatically considered for the HQI Postdoctoral Fellowship and for possible postdoctoral fellowship positions with Harvard PIs sponsored by the Simons Collaboration on Ultra‑Quantum Matter. Candidates may also be considered for a future Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship supporting up to three years. Qualifications Ph.D. in physics or related discipline, completed by the appointment start date. Demonstrated outstanding research in theoretical condensed matter physics. Ability to identify and pursue research problems independently while working well in an interactive and dynamic setting.
