This position requires adherence to all safety regulations, proper operation and maintenance of company equipment, and a professional attitude that reflects positively on the company. Drivers are expected to work collaboratively with team members while maintaining high standards of service and reliability.Required QualificationsValid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)Minimum of one (1) year of tractor-trailer driving experienceAbility to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculationsCapability to accurately complete receipts, logs, maps, and related documentsKnowledge of vehicle safety systems and operational controlsSafe and professional driving historyMust meet or exceed all U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) medical standardsUnderstanding of public safety and security procedures, policies, and regulationsWorking knowledge of DOT requirements, including Hours of Service (HOS), inspections, and equipment maintenance standardsEssential ResponsibilitiesComplete freight pickups and deliveries in a safe, timely, and cost-effective mannerTransport freight to and from designated customer locationsProperly connect and disconnect trailers, including operation of landing gearConduct detailed pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspectionsDevelop and follow efficient delivery routesMaintain company equipment in a clean and serviceable conditionServe as a professional representative of Southern Tier Logistics when interacting with customers and the publicComplete and submit daily trip documentation accurately and on timeEnsure Bills of Lading (BOLs) are correctly signed, processed, and submittedOperate all equipment safely while remaining compliant with applicable transportation regulationsFollow OSHA, state, federal, and company safety requirementsMaintain a current and valid CDL licenseReport all accidents, incidents, or injuries involving personnel or equipment immediatelyCommunicate promptly with dispatch regarding delays, breakdowns, weather-related issues, or emergenciesPerform other job-related duties as assignedWork Environment & Physical RequirementsOccasional evening, weekend, or non-standard schedule work may be requiredAbility to manage multiple tasks and respond effectively during emergency situationsFlexibility to work irregular schedules as business needs requireApproximately 25% to 50% of work time spent outdoors in varied weather and environmental conditionsFrequent standing and walking throughout the workdayAbility to walk the length of a tractor-trailer as requiredOccasional light lifting of materials and equipmentOpening and closing trailer doors regularlyFrequent operation of trailer dollies and landing gearOccasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, and other physical movementsFrequent entering and exiting of the truck cabEqual Employment OpportunitySouthern Tier Logistics is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to creating an inclusive workplace.
