Together, we’re improving health and improving lives.Labcorp is seeking a US based remote Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist to join our team!Job Responsibilities:The Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist is a seasoned, experienced professional with a wide range of experience who uses concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in a creative and effective way. Exercises judgment in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.Lead complex technical projects requiring evaluation of identifiable factorsDrive innovation in methods and tools through networking with key contactsContribute to strategic planning by translating business needs into technical requirementsBuild cross-functional relationships to deliver tactical business targetsFrequently advise others on complex matters related to bioinformatics and engineeringDesign and implement advanced bioinformatics solutions with substantial understanding of genomics and geneticsLead collaboration with molecular biology teams on assay development, including experimental design and analysisDrive regulatory compliance through analysis and technical writing for verification, validation, and documentationDevelop and optimize complex analysis pipelines based on deep knowledge of bioinformatics algorithmsGuide result interpretation and reporting standards, considering medical and commercial requirementsEstablish quality control metrics and procedures to ensure data integrityDrive improvements in accuracy, COGS, and turnaround time (TAT)Lead verification and validation efforts following compliance processesInterface with clinical and commercial stakeholders as consumers of bioinformatic dataEvaluate genomic data to deliver a confident result for complex variants, and understand system limitations when a confident result is not possibleArchitect and implement complex software systems with deep understanding of languages, tools, and librariesDesign systems and APIs that are maintainable, debuggable, and observableEstablish development standards by providing quality feedback on designsDrive system reliability and performance improvements throughappropriate metricsLead technical design reviews for right-sized componentsImplement robust testing frameworks by working with team leads to set goalsGuide technical architecture decisions for adjacent software systemsEstablish monitoring systems that support debuggability and observabilityDrive adoption of engineering best practices within and across teamsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree with 10 or more years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology or engineering, OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology or engineering, OR PhD with 4 or more years of experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, computational biology, or engineering.Preferred Qualifications:2 or more years of experience leading technical projects2 or more years of experience in system architecture and design using BWA, GATK, Deep variance, Dragen, Nextflow, Python, SKLearn, SciPy, PyTORCH, CI/CID, or GitHub ActionsAdditional Job Standards:Understanding of regulatory requirements in bioinformatics including regulatory compliance and documentation requirementsTrack record of identifying principled, robust, high-quality solutions to open-ended problemsUnderstanding of bioinformatics algorithms and underlying statistical and probabilistic techniquesUnderstanding of molecular biology underlying one or more productsStrong background in selecting appropriate datasets void of assumptions and biasesProject leadership abilities for complex issues requiring evaluation of variable factorsExcellence in determining methods and processes on new assignmentsStrategic thinking in selecting methods, evaluating, and adapting complex techniquesStakeholder management expertise across scientific and engineering boundariesAdvanced communication skills for persuading diverse stakeholders while delivering wider firm business messagesAt Labcorp, you can expect the following:Innovative Environment: Join a leading healthcare organization committed to driving innovation through internal development to help improve health and improve lives.
