Radiation Therapist II, Palo Alto - $10K Sign-On Bonus

Position Radiation Therapist II – responsible for administering high‑precision radiation therapy, participating in advanced treatments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team at Stanford Health Care, Palo Alto. Location: Palo Alto Schedule: Full‑Time, Monday–Friday, 8 Hour Shifts, No weekends, On‑call Key Responsibilities Treat local, national, and international patients, including adults, pediatrics, veterans, and BMT. Administer innovative treatments such as total skin and total body therapy, Cyberknife, IORT, Varian True Beam with Vision RT, RefleXion, ViewRay, and soon a Proton Therapy System. Participate in clinical trials in partnership with the Stanford School of Medicine. Perform patient simulation, including fabrication of immobilization devices. Conduct simple dosimetry calculations for urgent or emergent patient care. Fabricate brachytherapy accessories and beam‑shielding devices as required. Use C‑I‑CARE principles to explain procedures to patients and families, respond to concerns, and maintain a supportive environment. Monitor patients for expected and unexpected reactions and report them to appropriate staff. Document treatments accurately in the electronic health record and review billing documentation daily. Schedule patients on treatment and simulation units to optimize flow and resource availability. Conduct equipment warm‑up and quality‑assurance checks, reporting issues to the manager. Participate in problem‑solving, lean methodology, and process‑improvement initiatives. Perform additional related duties as needed or assigned. Engage in quality committees and process‑improvement projects to establish best‑practice standards. Qualifications At least 2 years of experience as an ARRT registered Radiation Therapist. Demonstrated competency in operating modern radiation therapy equipment (simulation, imaging, and treatment). Knowledge of human anatomy and proper patient positioning. Knowledge of safety, quality control, and training/mentoring techniques. Knowledge of scheduling and billing procedures. High clinical reasoning and patient assessment skills. Leadership and teaching ability; ability to lead, coach, and direct other therapists and support staff. Ability to stay current with developments in clinical practice and lead departmental projects. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively. Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification ARRT‑RTT CA‑RTT Compensation Base Pay Scale: $70.52–$93.43 per hour, determined by internal equity and experience.
