Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Position available for a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) specializing in adult care. Candidates must have critical care experience to work in a high volume ER and Level 1 Trauma Center. Charting experience with EPIC is required. Weekend commitment may involve working every other weekend or six weekend shifts within a six-week scheduling block. Requests for time off must be included during the submission process. The facility may call off one shift every two weeks. At least one holiday must be worked during each 13-week contract period. First-time travelers are accepted, though one year of travel experience is preferred. Only out-of-area travelers will be considered; local candidates will not be accepted. Pending licenses are accepted, but a temporary authorization must be obtained while the permanent license is being processed. Candidates must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). The CRT credential is not accepted. Clinical skills required include experience in critical care, particularly with neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients. Proficiency in various aerosol and medication delivery systems is essential. Candidates should be skilled in administering medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, and inhaled steroids. Candidates must be competent in arterial blood gas interpretation and ventilator management, including BiPAP and CPAP. Airway management skills such as extubation and suctioning are also required. Ability to manage oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups is necessary. Patient ratios will be 1:25, with a population consisting of adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Applicants should be prepared to float within their skill set. The role involves working with advanced specialty care equipment. Overall, this position involves providing care to a varied patient population and requires a competent, experienced individual.
