People Operations Specialist

True Classic is hiring a People Operations Specialist to run the day-to-day people operations that keep our team running, from onboarding and HR systems through engagement and compliance, with hands-on support across recruiting. This role is the operational backbone of the People function and reports to the Director of People & Talent Acquisition.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, people-oriented, proactive, and operationally minded and can execute with precision, improve the processes they run, and help foster a high-performance culture in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

All of True Classic's roles are global and omni-channel, leading designated areas of accountability across all product categories, countries, and sales and marketing channels. This role will have impact across DTC, retail, wholesale, marketplaces, and emerging channels, ensuring strategic alignment and executional rigor across the enterprise.

Areas of Accountability

Onboarding & Offboarding

• Run the onboarding experience from offer acceptance through 90 days.
• Coordinate Day 1 readiness, including laptop setup, accounts created, desk stocked, and systems accessible.
• Deliver the onboarding curriculum covering company operating principles, performance frameworks, and AI-first expectations.
• Run offboarding logistics, including scheduling exit interviews, final paperwork, and access removal.

HR Systems & Records

• Maintain employee records, org charts, and HRIS data with a high bar for accuracy.
• Produce recurring people reporting, including headcount, turnover, and hiring metrics.
• Administer HR systems and keep process documentation current.

Employment Compliance & Policy

• Support California and multi-state employment law compliance under the direction of the Director of People & Talent Acquisition.
• Maintain the employee handbook and policy documentation, and run policy acknowledgements.
• Administer leave requests and coordinate documentation.

Culture & Engagement

• Administer recognition programs and the ways we celebrate great work.
• Administer pulse surveys and summarize results for the Director of People & Talent Acquisition.
• Be the daily heartbeat of the Calabasas office and champion in-person collaboration norms.
• Flag retention risks and morale dips early.

Performance & Development

• Coordinate semi-annual performance review cycles, including scheduling, tracking completion, and calibration logistics.
• Administer internal AI training programs and track daily learning participation.
• Coordinate role-specific training and external course reimbursements.

Talent Acquisition Support

• Support full-cycle recruiting across functions, with a focus on sourcing, screening, and coordination.
• Source candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, referrals, and AI-native sourcing tools.
• Coordinate take-home assessments, work samples, interview scheduling, and hiring team feedback.
• Conduct recruiter screens using BrightHire with consistent rubric scoring.
• Maintain data accuracy and process hygiene in Ashby.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with the Director of People & Talent Acquisition on review cycles, engagement initiatives, compliance, and HR operations.
• Work closely with IT and Office Managers on workspace setup, equipment provisioning, account creation, and Day 1 readiness.
• Coordinate with hiring managers on interview scheduling, feedback collection, and candidate communication.
• Coordinate with staffing agencies, recruiting partners, and external vendors on hiring events and pipeline logistics.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in people operations, human resources, recruiting operations, talent acquisition, or a related field.
• Experience running onboarding programs, HRIS administration, and employee lifecycle processes.
• Familiarity with employment compliance requirements, ideally in California.
• Strong organizational, communication, project management, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems proactively, and execute with a high level of ownership and attention to detail.
• Experience using AI tools and technology platforms to improve people operations and recruiting efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-growth consumer, ecommerce, retail, or startup environments.
• Experience with HRIS platforms, Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, BrightHire, and AI-enabled tools.
• Experience supporting employee engagement initiatives and workplace operations.
• Passion for building high-performance cultures and creating exceptional employee experiences.

Workplace Arrangement

On-site, 5x per week, based in Calabasas, CA.
