Occupational TherapistBenefits include:401k, Paid time off, HSA, CME allowance, Life Insurance Policy, STD and LTD Policy.No weekends.As a Certified Hand Therapist at Georgia Bone and Joint Surgeons, this position performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that emphasizes quality of care and customer service.Primary Duties And ResponsibilitiesEvaluates upper extremity diagnoses thoroughly, identifying impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities.Obtains and reviews medical, psychosocial, vocational, and avocational history along with other factors that may affect the rehabilitation process. Understands and follows the precautions of each case.Determines prognosis and plan of care in collaboration with the patient and referring physician within the guidelines of third-party payers.Develops and regularly updates patient education and home programs to maximize patient understanding of their diagnosis, expected outcomes, and fully engages them in their rehabilitation process. Partnering and aligning decisions with patient needs, wants, and preferences.Efficient and effective fabrication of orthoses. Follows proper principles for the patient fit, design, precautions, and is appropriate for conservative/surgical conditions.Custom orthosis fabrication. Assesses the effectiveness of teaching and considers the emotional impact of the condition on learning.Delegates treatment to appropriate clinical staff and provides necessary supervision. Maximizes efficiency in patient outcomes through the use of appropriate support personnel.Maintains current professional knowledge of techniques and trends in the field through consistent communications with peers, physicians/mid-levels, as well as independent study.Attends conventions, meetings, or special courses whenever possible and shares gained information with the department/facility personnel.Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.Participates in continuing education, staff meetings, and other team events.Dedication – Strives to make the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those served top priority.Excellence – Works toward providing high-quality healthcare support services.Teamwork – Maintains positive interaction with co-workers, supports & promotes spirit of teamwork.Community – Uses resources and supplies efficiently to administer cost-effective services to the group and the community.Education:Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate from an accredited Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy program.Hand Therapy Certification, if applicable.Georgia state license required.CPR certification.2 years of experience in an outpatient setting preferred.Knowledge/Skills:Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Customer service oriented.Knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures.Attentive to detail.Ability to follow up to ensure the patient is satisfied.Maintain current certifications.Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively.Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.Physical Requirements And Working ConditionsRequires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting patients when required.Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.Requires ability to facilitate prescribed treatment, including full manipulation and resistance.Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Sitting/Standing : Extended periods of sitting and/or standing in an open office environmentHandling: Normal office activity including keyboarding, interacting with others, participating in meetings, extended periods of sitting and/or standing in an open office environment, use of headset or telephone for extended periods.Repetitive motion: Frequent and regular use of the wrists, hands, and fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.
