HSM is a 50-year-old, leading manufacturer of shredders and baling presses for recycling material. The German-based company distributes its products in more than 100 countries throughout the world.

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Service Technician to join our team. This role involves servicing, maintaining, and repairing HSM products, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring optimal performance of equipment both in-house and at customer sites. The ideal candidate is technically adept, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality service experiences.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair HSM products; conduct OSHA-compliant safety inspections
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; replace or repair parts, test, and adjust equipment
• Assemble components and equipment independently using manuals, drawings, or instructions
• Install balers at customer facilities and ensure proper operation
• Evaluate product returns (warranty and non-warranty) and determine repair needs per company policies
• Provide technical support to field technicians, customers, and internal departments via phone, email, or in-person
• Conduct training sessions on equipment operation and installation
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace, ensuring proper care of tools and machinery
• Complete all required paperwork (work reports, time sheets, etc.) accurately and on time
• Travel as needed (up to 75%, primarily East Coast) using company-provided van and tools
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Associate’s degree or technical certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment service operations, preferably customer-facing
• Mechanical knowledge required; electrical (3-phase preferred) and hydraulics knowledge desired
• Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Basic knowledge of PC applications
• Clean driving record
