Accountabilities:

The Senior Software Engineer, Data will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating backend systems and AI-driven capabilities that support high-scale digital experiences. This role requires strong ownership of technical solutions, thoughtful collaboration, and the ability to transform complex data challenges into reliable products.

• Build and maintain modern backend services using technologies such as C# .NET, Python, SQL, AWS, and Snowflake.
• Develop AI-powered features using LLM technologies, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, tool use, and function calling.
• Design and evolve data models, schemas, and APIs that support both traditional applications and AI-driven access patterns.
• Own software features throughout the full lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational readiness.
• Create evaluation frameworks and observability practices for AI features to identify regressions and maintain quality.
• Optimize PostgreSQL databases through schema improvements, query tuning, indexing, and performance monitoring.
• Support backend migrations, platform modernization initiatives, and technology improvements with minimal disruption.
• Establish effective CI/CD practices, automated testing strategies, and reliable development workflows.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver impactful customer-facing solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards, technical decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings extensive backend engineering experience combined with expertise in data systems and AI technologies. They are comfortable working independently, solving complex technical problems, and collaborating within an agile, team-focused environment.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on backend web application development.
• Strong experience building production applications powered by LLM technologies, including RAG, semantic/vector search, or AI tool integrations.
• Advanced proficiency in C# .NET, Python, SQL, REST API design, and data modeling.
• Experience working with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or similar platforms.
• Working knowledge of AWS services for deploying and managing backend applications.
• Experience designing AI evaluation systems, including golden datasets, LLM-based evaluation, and regression testing.
• Strong PostgreSQL expertise, including database design, optimization, and analytical data modeling.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, Git, and GitHub-based workflows.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, agile development environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience preferred.
• Additional experience with frontend development, observability, load testing, vector databases, MCP, agent frameworks, or high-traffic web applications is a plus.
• Interest in sports, statistics, or sports technology is beneficial.
