Deadline: October 31, 2026 District/Organization: TRI COUNTY AREA SCHOOLS Position/Type: Other, full time One (1) SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (Full-time Position) Beginning: August 2026 summary: The Speech-Language Pathologist plays a vital role in supporting students with communication needs, making a meaningful difference in their educational journey. The SLP collaborates with students, families, educators, and related-service providers to improve access, participation, communication, and progress within the educational environment. Qualifications: Speech and Language Pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s) from ASHA or as a Michigan Teacher of the Speech and Language Impaired (CCC’s) Clinical Fellows (CFY) will be considered Master’s degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders from an accredited program. Current Michigan speech-language pathology license, or eligibility to obtain the appropriate license through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred. Clinical Fellows who are eligible for appropriate Michigan licensure will be considered. Working knowledge of IDEA, MARSE, Section 504, FERPA, Medicaid School-Based Services, applicable Michigan administrative rules, and district policies. Thorough knowledge of speech/language pathology necessary to assess and identify communication disorders and to develop appropriate programs and services for students with speech and language impairments. Demonstrated ability to establish positive collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with preschool-aged students with various disabilities in the preschool setting. Experience conducting comprehensive speech-language evaluations and contributing to multidisciplinary eligibility determinations. Experience working with children who have speech and language impairments and their families. Experience working with students who have various disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder and specific learning disabilities. Experience evaluating for and utilizing assistive technology with students based on communication and organizational needs and abilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in district and building MTSS, problem-solving, child find, and prereferral processes by consulting with staff, recommending evidence-based strategies, assisting with screening when appropriate, and reviewing student response data. Facilitate case management through involvement with the building evaluation team meetings, consultation with parents and teachers, observation, and IEPs. Plan and conduct comprehensive evaluations using multiple sources of information, including record review, interviews, observations, curriculum-based information, language samples, and appropriate standardized and nonstandardized measures. Interpret findings, determine educational impact, and prepare legally compliant written reports. Administer, score and interpret appropriate evaluation instruments based on district guidelines and the specific needs of students and complete evaluation reports Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations and contribute professional findings and recommendations to multidisciplinary teams responsible for determining special education eligibility and educational need. Develop measurable, educationally relevant IEP goals and determine appropriate service recommendations in collaboration with the IEP team. Implement services, monitor progress, report progress to families, and maintain documentation in accordance with IDEA, MARSE, district procedures, and applicable timelines. Provide services through appropriate delivery models, including individual, small-group, classroom-based, consultative, and collaborative supports, as determined by student needs and the IEP team. Evaluate, implement, and monitor augmentative and alternative communication and other assistive technology supports in collaboration with students, families, educators, and related-service providers. Train staff and families in the consistent use of communication systems across educational environments Manage assigned workload and caseload responsibilities, including evaluations, intervention, consultation, documentation, meetings, planning, travel, and coordination of services. Maintain accurate records related to referrals, evaluations, IEP services, progress monitoring, Medicaid billing, and other district or state reporting requirements. Collect, analyze, and utilize student performance data to evaluate intervention effectiveness, monitor progress toward IEP goals, and inform instructional decision-making. Maintain required licensure and participate in ongoing professional learning to remain current in evidence-based practices, legal requirements, and district initiatives. Complete timely and accurate Medicaid documentation and billing requirements in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines Serve as an active member of multidisciplinary educational teams, working together with both general/special education staff and parents/guardians Provide consultation to staff and families regarding communication supports, classroom accommodations, language development, and evidence-based instructional practices. Promote and support the mission, vision, and goals of the Tri County Area Schools Special Education Department. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA (when applicable), IDEA, district policies, and professional ethical standards.
