Senior Principal Software Developer (C++)

Salary: $135,200 - 306,400 per year Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevant engineering, architecture, software development, or operations experience.
• Strong C/C++ experience and willingness to work with Rust.
• Strong experience with high-concurrency systems.
• Experience designing and developing low-level, performance-critical systems and services.
• Working knowledge of one or more of the following: high-performance distributed storage, write-ahead logging (WAL), B-tree or LSM-tree indexing, data partitioning or sharding, Raft, Paxos or Multi-Paxos, MVCC transaction management, distributed transactions, and CAP theorem trade-offs.
• Strong teamwork, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

• Envision new major data-plane components for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, collaborate with executives on investment, and lead their software design and development.
• Define the foundations for the next generation of OCI data planes and make deep architectural decisions as a technical leader.
• Build and deliver a key-value store designed to support billions of keys and millions of requests per second with sub-millisecond latency.
• Help define and evolve standard engineering practices and procedures.
• Develop, design, and debug software applications or operating systems.
• Work with Engineering Managers and technical program managers, and provide direct guidance to junior team members.
• Lead work from high-level system design, architectural documentation, and engineering reviews through hands-on prototyping, code reviews, and project setup.
• Balance delivery speed and quality through iteration and incremental improvements.
• Improve developer experience and drive process and service improvements through automation and instrumentation.
